TOP APPOINTMENT TO ENHANCE GROWTH - Feb 05

Australian Macro & Micro Plant Nutrient Specialist liquid fertilizer company SprayGro has appointed Brett Kearsley as its National Sales Manager, responsible for growing the business across the country, with a particular emphasis on growth into Eastern and Northern Australia.

Mr Kearsley is well qualified to further enhance the growth of SprayGro, says Mr Simon Blackwood, Managing Director of SprayGro, having previously held national sales positions in both granular and liquid fertilizer supplier companies in South Australia and Queensland.

Having spent the past 3 ½ years as Sales Manager for Stoller Australia Mr Kearsley says that he has been excited by the increasing consumption of liquid fertilizers, as growers across all market segments have seen the advantages of using liquid products for foliar application, fluid injection at planting, and fertigation through dripper or overhead pivots.

Mr Kearsley said that as suppliers and rural resellers are increasing their capacity to produce, transport and distribute quality liquids to growers and farmers, the relative costs of liquid versus granular nutrient application is decreasing all the time.

He goes on to say that this has not only resulted in end users enjoying the benefits of purchasing liquid nutrients, including ease of handling and application, but the speed and efficiency of plant uptake of the liquid combinations has meant that crop yields and quality of produce has improved over a range of crop types.

Mr Blackwood too, has seen this increase, and this has necessitated SprayGro to continue to invest in production and storage facilities, and import an increasing percentage of raw materials direct from overseas to ensure that the varying needs of customers is met.

Mr Kearsley has also been very impressed with SprayGro's ability to provide prescription blends of liquid nutrient based on individual crop needs, crop growth stage or nutrient testing results which can then be evaluated by agronomists in consultation with SprayGro chemist/plant physiologist Dr. Deepak Mathur and the growers to supply the most appropriate blend of primary and secondary nutrients, as well as trace elements.

As growers and farmers have experienced the advantages of a more flexible and crop driven nutrient application systems, they are driving researchers, consultants and rural resellers for more information on a range of nutrient responses, so once again says Mr Kearsley, it is the producer that is the forefront of change, and we have to quickly respond to the changes and new challenges brought about by this change.

SprayGro, he said, is one such Australian family owned company which wishes to meet these challenges, and lead the provision of liquid fertilizer and service to growers, who are being asked to continually increase yield and quality of produce, whilst managing input costs and production risks.
