FIRMRITE YOUR CROP
Spraygro liquid fertilizers have the most comprehensive and balanced
series of Firmrite liquid fertilizers for the broadacre and horticultural
markets. We call it Firmrite because application of this range of products
impacts correct firmness to fruits and plants. The primary nutrient
in this range is calcium alone or blended with synergistic straight
or chelated elements. Calcium is also known as the “KING”
of all elements in plant nutrition. Calcium is the primary element of
plant cell wall where it binds with the pectin molecules to provide
rigidness to the cell wall. Plants with adequate levels of calcium resists
fungal, bacterial and viral infections better than those with deficient
levels of calcium in their cell walls. Calcium also regulates the growth
processes in plants by combining with a special protein molecule, called
calmodulin. Plants respond to their own hormones through calmodulin.
Calcium, unlike other major nutrients such as nitrogen, potassium and
phosphorus, is relatively immobile and the deficiency symptoms first
appear on the new leaves or the growing points of the shoots. Most of
the growers must be familiar with bitter pit in apples, and tip burn
in lettuce. These disorders are primarily due to calcium deficiency.
The blossom end rot disorder in tomato explains the acute shortage of
calcium during fruit development period. Foliar application of our Firmrite
mixes has proven to be the best practice to eliminate calcium disorders,
boron, nitrogen and magnesium deficiencies during critical stages of
growth.
Spraygro Firmrite ranges from 16% calcium to whopping 22 % calcium analysis
(highest calcium analysis in a clear liquid available) along with synergistic
elements. This product range has been professionally designed to correct
calcium levels in plants, increase fruit firmness and shelf life. The
other active ingredient in Firmrite CB (16% calcium & 0.2% Boron)
and Firmrite CMB (15% nitrogen, 22% calcium 3 % magnesium & 0.01%
boron) is boron. Boron helps in pollination and proper fruit set, promotes
uniform maturity and maintains the growing tips. Boron is also less
mobile in plants and sometimes the deficiency symptoms of boron are
identical to that of calcium.
Inclusion of magnesium in Firmrite CMB will correct the critical calcium/
magnesium ratio, improves chlorophyll, marketability of fruit and fruit
size. Broadacre crops also benefit a lot by improving their calcium/
magnesium ratio and are more resistant to snapping off their heads due
to high wind velocity during maturity period. Our Firmrite range can
also be applied on cash crops, such as cotton to improve fruit cell
walls for greater lint strength, which is one of the key quality control
of parameters of the industry.
